Heavenly chocolate, banana, berry and espresso protein smoothie
I love a good blender! I love the convenience of literally throwing various ingredients into it and making a breakfast, lunch or even dinner smoothie in a matter of seconds especially if I’m in a hurry or can’t be bothered cooking. I have this ( or other variations of this smoothie ) most weekday mornings while I get the kids fed and dressed. I like knowing this is jam packed with vitamins, minerals and antioxidants and is a complete micro and macro nutrient balanced smoothie, with a kick-ass boost of decent coffee! Woo hoo!
Recipe:
Takes under 5mins to make. Serves 2. You’ll need a blender.
Ingredients:
250ml of pure water ( you could also use almond, oat or rice milk, or normal milk if you prefer )
3 x cubs of ice
1 x small banana
1 x big handful of blueberries
1 x shot of high quality espresso coffee ( if you don’t have a coffee machine, then you could get creative here )
2 x scoops of all natural high grade chocolate protein powder that’s either plant based or happy cow whey based ( depends on where you are in the world, but usually there are a few good ones on the market, be careful though, there is a lot of artificial crap out there. I went with my diary-free variety that I always have in our cupboard )
99% cacao chocolate
Make your shot of espresso and set aside. Put all ingredients into the blender and add the coffee. Blend for 30 seconds until smooth.
Pour into a tall glass. Shave or grate some raw cacao chocolate over your smoothie and I like to throw in some whole blueberries on top. Drink!
