De-stress Power Smoothie
Something about Spring makes me want to de-stress and power up for Summer! Time to shake off the winter coat and get the mind and body flesh outside for some pale knees in the sun ( and hopefully at some point some in sea and sand too! ). And what better way than to throw a load of uber goodies into a blender and drink a bloody rainbow! I've added some key super foods that are truly magical in their own right. Spirulina, Maca, Chia Seeds and Flaxseed, plus a bunch other powerful ingredients to get your body firing on all ass kicking cylinders.
Ever wondered what all the Spirulina fuss is about? Well....this! It has so many health benefits. It detoxifies heavy metals in the body, it helps eliminates candida and encourages healthy gut flora growth, fights cancer, lowers high blood pressure, lowers cholesterol, boost energy, lowers chance of stroke, speeds up weight loss and alleviates sinus issues!!! It's a super source of protein, Vitamin B12 which supports our immune systems, which is what we need during the change of seasons! Need I say more?
And what about Maca? Well for one it improves sexual function and endurance. OH YES. ha! But the truth behind it is it's hormone balancing properties. LOVE IT. NEED IT. Particularly good for relieving menstrual issues and the side effects of going through menopause. Some women have used it to alleviate cramps, body pain, hot flashes, anxiety, mood swings, and depression. RIGHT ON! Maca is rich in vitamin B vitamins, C, and E. It provides plenty of calcium, zinc, iron, magnesium, phosphorous and amino acids.
There's a big protein hit in here too which will boost energy and help burn fat. WIN WIN.
Right lets just get to the recipe and just drink the thing!
Whack all the below into a blender until smooth and a beautiful colour!
Ingredients:
1 banana
1 cup of frozen strawberries + banana
1-2 scoops of vanilla undenatured whey protein ( or you could go for a neutral vegan powder )
240mls ( or more ) almond milk
2 Tbsp milled Flaxseed
1 Tbsp Chia seeds
1 Tbsp Maca
1/2-1 tsp Spirulina ( you don't need much! )
1 Tbsp of coconut oil
Blend for 30sec or until beautifully smooth and sprinkle some raw cacao powder on top. Enjoy!
